UNNC 2021/22 Academic Year Careers and Employability Annual Report released
The UNNC 2021/22 Academic Year Careers and Employability Annual Report has been released based on the latest statistics.
Over 30% of class of 2022 undergraduates heading for further study were admitted by top 10 universities, nearly 70% by top 50 universities, and approximately 90% by top 100 universities. The average monthly income for undergraduate students seeking employment after graduation is 13,813 RMB (before tax, with an increase of 34% compared to that of last year), which significantly exceeds the national average of 6,507 RMB. About 90% of students were employed by Fortune 500 companies, well-known Chinese and foreign enterprises, government agencies, and public institutions, such as Alipay, Baidu, Alibaba Pictures Group Limited, ByteDance, Deloitte, PwC, Accenture, China National Petroleum Corporation, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and ICBC. In terms of location, 74.8% of them chose to work in first-tier cities and economically developed areas such as Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Guangdong.
For class of 2021 postgraduate students, 86.6% proceeded directly to work, while 6.9% continued for further education and 0.6% decided to start up a business. For postgraduates who chose to work after graduation, about 94% went to Fortune 500 companies, well-known Chinese and foreign enterprises, government agencies, and public institutions including KPMG, Ubisoft, Pfizer, Amazon, PayPal and Geely.
Our doctoral graduates continued to achieve high-quality employment. 69.4% of PhD graduates entered the higher education industry, while 16.3% headed to work in public institutions and scientific research and design institutions. Another 14.3% found jobs in well-known domestic and foreign enterprises such as Tesla.
As for International and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan graduates, 27.4% of them chose to stay in Chinese mainland for further education or employment whereas 72.6% chose to study and work overseas, according to the latest statistics. Their employers are mainly renowned global and domestic companies, such as PwC (UK), KPMG (Netherlands), Dell (USA), Gucci (Italy), ICBC, and CCECC. Many postgraduates and doctoral graduates are employed in universities, such as National University of Singapore, University of Nottingham, Warsaw Research Centre, Hainan University, and Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
UNNC is dedicated to providing students with comprehensive, professional and tailor-made guidance. So far, over 800 renowned domestic and foreign enterprises have registered on the careers system of the university, and have developed long-term cooperative links with UNNC. In addition, the Careers and Employability Service has held about 60 employer presentations and multiple job fairs, providing plenty of opportunities for graduates. In response to the Visiting Project issued by the Ministry of Education to efficiently promote graduate employment, the Careers and Employability Service has striven to boost the project and made over 100 field visits to enterprises. For students who want to continue their studies, the university also provides timely, neutral, comprehensive, and systematic further study advising services, such as graduate school fairs, one-to-one counselling and alumni talks to open up the path for students to apply for prestigious universities.
